Student and Staff Appointment System
"Arranging appointments between staff and students is a general activity
within the university environment. Currently, De Montfort University does not
have a standard system to facilitate appointments between students and
staff members.
My project is a student support system that enables students to make
appointments with staff members. Staff members can publish their available
time slots and students can request appointments. On each event, such as
an appointment request or cancellation, a notification email is automatically
triggered to the stakeholders. The system can also facilitate ad-hoc users,
such as visiting professors.
The application is connected with Google Calendar APIs. Users can
update their appointment details on their Google Calendar through this
system. Administrators can fully monitor the security and access levels of
users, and any type of access level can be systematically defined.
The system is developed using Visual Studio 2010, SQL Server 2008,
and Crystal Reports 10. The development language and technologies used
are VB.NET, Framework 3.5 and AJAX. The system is based on strong
database architecture, making use of SQL stored procedures, views, triggers
and object relational model rules.
